Requirements to attend LEAD:

a.      Must have at least 10 credits.

b.     Must have passed the 9th grade reading TAKS.

c.      Must be “at risk” by state standards.

d.      Must be 17 years old by September 1, 2007.

e.      Have not had discipline issues.

f.    Must be employed.

· What is the application process?

The following documents should be included with your application:

a.      Completed application

b.     Most recent report card

c.      Most current transcript (out of district only)

d.      Attendance records

e.      Discipline records (out of district only)

Once these documents are submitted you will be contacted by phone for an interview or you will receive a letter stating that you are not eligible at this time.

Discipline is looked at very closely.  If a student has had serious offences  they will not be granted an interview. LEAD is an ACADEMIC program and students that attend LEAD must be serious about completing their academic requirements. (If an infraction occurs at LEAD, students will be dismissed from the program.)

·

Is there an age range for students who attend LEAD?

Yes, you must be at least 17 years old by September 1, 2007.

How long will it take to graduate?

Every student has different needs. The credits that are needed and the pace in which a student works will determine how quickly they will complete the program.

Requirements that must be met to remain at LEAD

Students must complete at least 3 assignments per week in each subject to remain in the program. Since this is a self-paced program it is imperative that students remain focused on their program of work and complete in a timely manner. If students are not able to complete at least 3 assignments they will be put on probation for 6 weeks and then they will be re-evaluated to determine if they stay in the program.

Attendance

Students must not miss class unless it is an emergency. LEAD students attend classes they are assigned to in either the morning (8:00 – 12:00) or afternoon (11:30 – 3:30) session. Tardies are not acceptable.  All LEAD students must have a job. If students miss 5 days of classes they will be put on probationary status and may loose the opportunity to remain at LEAD.
