Christian returns for 3rd varsity season as our starting
shortstop where he was named to the All-District team in 2007.
He should also see action on the mound this year. He hit .358 with
21 RBI’s
in 2007. He has 13 years of baseball
experience. His goals are to hit .400 and win district.
“Otis,” as he is called by his teammates, is an Honor Roll
student and he would like to be an oral surgeon in the future.
He also likes to play basketball. Christian’s hobbies include
watching TV, hanging out with friends, and going to the lake.
His best baseball memory is winning the Dixie State Championship
in 2004. His favorite player is Mark Texeira and he likes the
Texas Rangers. He is a member of Interact and his Church Youth
group. Christian is the son of Randy and Carla Stringer and he
has a brother, Jacob and a sister, Jordan. |

Shawn is another senior moving up to the varsity in 2008. His
defensive skills
should help the Lobos in the outfield. He also played
football for the Lobos. He has 14 years of baseball
experience. His best baseball memory is hitting a game
winning triple in fall ball. His goals are to go to
college and be successful in life. Shawn's hobbies include
hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends. His
favorite player is Lance Berkman and he likes the Houston Astros.
Shawn is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club
and the Science Club. He would like to be an orthodontist
in the future. His honors include Rotary Youth Leadership
and he is an Honor Roll student. Shawn is the son of Keith
and Rhonda Small and he has a sister, Jessika. |

Taylor Pepper # 4

Place: Longview, TX
Taylor emerged
as our top pitcher in 2007 leading the Lobos with 6 wins.
He also hit .267 with 14 RBI's playing both 3rd base and
2nd base for the Lobos. He has 13 years of
baseball experience. His goals are to hit .300 and help the
Lobos on the mound. He also would like to attend Louisiana Tech
University after he graduates from high school. His best
baseball memory is hitting a triple in his first JV at bat and
getting his first win as a Lobo. Roger Clemens is his favorite
player and he likes the St. Louis Cardinals. His hobbies
include hunting, fishing, and sleeping. He has a career
interest in electrical engineering. Taylor is the son of Steve
and Kathy Pepper and he has 2 sisters, Stephanie and Holley. |

Travis Smith #5

This will be
Travis' 4th varsity season. His
versatility will give the Lobos the needed depth at both the
infield and outfield positions as well as pitching. He has
12
years of playing experience. His goal is to hit .300 and help
the Lobos make the playoffs again in 2008. Travis also plays
football for the Lobos. His best baseball memory is winning the
Dixie State title in 2004. His hobbies include playing the
guitar and hanging out with friends. He is a member of Interact
and he has an interest in business. His favorite player is
Albert Pujols and he likes the Texas Rangers. Travis is the son
of Darrell Smith and Ginger and Ron Cannon and he has a twin
brother, Austin. |

Austin Smith #

Austin is a returning letterman who
started at 3rd base for the Lobos last season. He
hit .404 with 22 RBI’s and was named All-District 3rd Base in
District 12 -5A. He has 12 years of playing experience. His
goal is to help the Lobos win in 2008 and be the best player he
can be. He also played football for the Lobos. Austin enjoys
hanging out with friends and sports as his hobbies. His
favorite team is the Texas Rangers and he likes David Eckstein.
His favorite baseball memory is winning the Dixie State
Championship in 2004. He is a member of the Interact Club and
the National Honor Society. Austin is the son of Darrell Smith
and Ginger Cannon and he has 5 brothers, Cody, Travis, Travis
G., Ross, and Chase. |

Casey Zager # 8

Casey had a
breakout year in 2007 hitting .380 with 21 RBI’s in 2007.
This will be his 3rd season as our starting catcher. His goal is to help the Lobos make the playoffs and
continue to improve as a hitter in 2008. He has 12 years of baseball
experience. His best baseball memory is beating district rival
Tyler Lee in 2006. Casey’s favorite player is David Ortiz and
he likes the Texas Rangers. He is a member of the Interact
Club, Faces, and the National Honor Society. His hobbies
include sign language and rapping. He has a career interest in
business management. Casey is the son of Jason and Karen
Caldwell. |

Kelly #9

Place: Chicago, Ill.
Blythe is a returning letterman who
should help the Lobos at 3rd base and possibly in the outfield. He is very athletic and
his baseball skills should continue to improve as he learns the game. He
could help the Lobos at many different positions. He has
12
years of baseball experience. His goal is to become a
solid player for the Lobos and play college ball. His best
baseball memory is hitting 2 triples and a double on a 13 and 14
fall ball team. He
like to work out and go to concerts.
His favorite team is the Boston Red Sox and his favorite player
is Barry Bonds. Blythe is the son of Gene and Rashelle
Kelly and his has a brother, Christian, and a sister, Amy.

Steven Smith

Steven is a newcomer to the Lobo varsity in 2008. He should
help the Lobos this year in the outfield. He has 13 years
of baseball experience. His goal is to hit .300 for the Lobos.
His best baseball memory is hitting his first home run when he
was 14. Steven is an outstanding student and is a member
of Interact, Amistad, and the National Honor Society. His
favorite player is Ivan Rodriquez and he likes the Boston Red
Sox. Steven enjoys playing other sports as his hobbies.
He plans to attend Texas A&M University and become a doctor.
He is in the top 10% of his class. Steven is the son of
Bobby and Lynn Smith and he has two brothers, Blaine and
Clayton. |

William McWhorter #11

William saw lots
of action as a sophomore in 2007 on the mound with 48 innings
and a 4.92 ERA. He will help the Lobos as our only left-handed pitcher
on the varsity. William was named Academic All-District in
2007. He has 12 years of baseball experience. His goal is
to become a better baseball player and help the Lobos have a
winning season. His best
baseball memory is making the Texas-Louisiana All-Star team. His
favorite team is the Texas Longhorns. He likes to hang out with friends
and watch college sports on TV. He is a member of Interact and
his Church Youth Organization and National Honor Society. He is an Honor Roll student with
distinction and he would like to graduate from UT at Austin and
become an FBI agent. William is the son of David and
Susan McWhorter. |

Johnny Garrett

Johnny is a 3 year starter and the only
returning outfielder off the 2007 Lobos. He will anchor
the outfield where he was named All-District in both 2006 and
2007. He hit .294 with 19 RBI’s and 14 stolen bases in
2007. He has played baseball for 12 years.
Johnny also plays football for the Lobos and was selected
All-District and All East Texas as a running back.
His best baseball memory is hitting his first homerun when he
was 12. His goal is to play college baseball in his future.
Johnny’s favorite player is Barry Bonds and he likes the Texas
Rangers. His hobbies include playing video games and listening
to music. He attends the Word of Truth Church. Johnny is the
son of Johnny and Charlesetta Garrett and he has a brother,

William is the only sophomore on the Lobos in 2008 and should
gain lots of experience at 1st base or in the outfield. He could
really help the Lobos hitting from the left side. He has
10 years of baseball experience. William also plays
football and basketball for the Lobos. His goal is to
learn and gain experience and become a better baseball player.
He enjoys listening to music, XBox, golfing, and fishing when
not playing sports. He is a member of Technology Students
of America. His favorite team is the Texas Rangers and he
likes Mark Texeira. He is an A Honor Roll student and he
is interested is some field of engineering. William is the
son of William and Cindi Johnson and he has 2 brothers, Brad and
Jared, and a sister, Caitlin. |

Trevor is a
newcomer to the Lobo varsity in 2007. He should help the Lobos
this year at first base and on the mound. He is one of several
young players we are trying to develop as pitchers this year.
He has 10 years of baseball experience. His best baseball
memory is playing with the All-stars during his baseball
career. His goals are to graduate in the top 10% and get a
scholarship. Trevor’s hobbies include video games, golf, and
eating good food. His favorite player is Joe Mauer and he likes
Texas A&M as his favorite team. He is an Honor Roll student. He
has a career interest in broadcasting or grounds keeping. Trevor
is the son of Terry and Lynn Moren. |

Miles is another junior moving up to the Lobo varsity
baseball team in 2008. He should give our pitching staff added
depth especially in the early weeks when we are in tournament
play. He has 14 of baseball experience. His goals
are to be a team player and help the Lobos anyway he can in
2008. His best baseball memory is hitting his one and only
home run. Miles list disc golf, fishing, and hanging out
with his friends as his hobbies. He is a member of the Interact
Club. His favorite player is Roger Clemens and he likes
the Houston Astros. He has a career interest in real
estate in the future. Miles is the son of Dan Durst and
Nancy Doerrfeld and he has 3 brothers, Mason, Andrew, and Josh. |

Michael is another newcomer on the varsity
baseball team in 2008. He will give the Lobos more depth
at both the catching and outfield positions with his strong arm.

memory is hitting 3 triples in the Pine Tree JV tournament last
year. Michael's goal is for the Lobos to win the district
championship in 2008. He likes riding 4-wheelers, camping,
and playing video games. His favorite player is David
Ortiz and he likes the Boston Red Sox. He is a member of
the National Honor Society. He has a career interest to be
a doctor in the future. Michael is the son of Mark and
Carla Lammert and he has a sister, Kayla.

Sergio is in his first full season as the manager for the
varsity baseball team. He does a great job in helping all
of our coaches at Longview High School. He also works as a
student trainer in both football and basketball. His
favorite team is the Texas Rangers. He likes to play the
piano in his spare time. He attends Miracle Tabernacle
Prayer and Praise Cathedral. Sergio is the son of Shanequa
Writt and he has a brother, Jonathan and a sister, Markeyta. |
