All teaching staff members in the
state of Texas
will complete the Texas STaR Chart requirement for TEA for the 2009-2010
academic year. The reports are used to report on progress toward
fulfilling the requirements in NoChild Left Behnd, Title II, Part D that
all teachers should be technology literate and integrate technology
across the curriculum.
Due to No Child Left Behind, Texas
must report to the Federal Gov’t specific technology data including:
-
number of computers available to
students for instruction
-
the number of technology
literate 8th graders, as defined as Mastery of the Technology
Application TEKS for Grades 6-8 as demonstrated by 70% or higher
accuracy. (LISD will administer a technology literacy assessment to
eighth graders.)
-
the number of school personnel
achieving acceptable performance on standards-based performance
profiles of technology user skills as defined by the state. The
teacher and librarian/library media specialist data will be
aggregated from the Teaching & Learning and Educator Preparation &
Development sections of the STaR Chart.
Vicki Clark will be in the
upper library before (7:30-8:00) and after
school (4:00-4:30) on Tuesday,
September 22 for helping LHS teachers complete the STaR Chart. This activity will take approximately 15 minutes.
You may complete the STaR Chart on your own long as it is
completed before or on October 1, 2009.
The STaR Chart summary will be submitted to Mr.
Brewer and Pat Johnson
as the data is used in the district and campus technology plans as well
as in the budget process. Mr. Brewer will also receive a completion
form from the site listing all teachers that have completed the chart
on-line.
