Orientations - UPDATED FOR 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR

Orientations are scheduled at the Longview ISD Education Support Center, 1301 E. Young Street, Longview, Texas from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

Attendance to one of the scheduled orientations is required prior to being placed on our substitute list.  No appointment is necessary.

  • Q. Do you hire degreed non-certified persons for teaching positions?
    A. Yes, we have guidelines allowing us to hire in certain circumstances. Contact the Human Resources Department for more information
  • Q. What do I need to do to become a substitute teacher?
    A. You must have 30 college hours to qualify. Fill out an application for substitute teaching. Contact Judy Griffith in Human Resources.
  • Q. Where can I find out more information on teaching certifications?
    A. Information on Texas requirements for educational certification can be found at the SBEC website, http://www.sbec.state.tx.us.
  • Q. I need information on sick leave. Whom do I call?
    A. Human Resources handles anything relating to sick, personal, and catastrophic leaves. Contact HR.
  • Q. I need information regarding insurance in LISD. Whom do I call?
    A. Contact the Business Office.
